Thank you for your interest in Just the Goods!
As some of you already know, due to the demands of other projects, I am sometimes required to closed the lab for varying periods of time. Please note that the lab is now closed until May 21, 2013; however, orders are still welcome at any time. Any order received between April 20 - May 20 will be handmade beginning May 21 and mailed as quickly as possible. In the case of orders placed by those living in Winnipeg, I’ll be in touch as soon as your order is complete to arrange pick up.
Those living in Winnipeg are also invited to take advantage of a wide range of products available at various retail locations. Please click here for more information.
Thank you once again! I look forward to getting started again on May 21!
With all my very best,
It is almost time for another Just the Goods temporary lab closure. I’m so sorry to disappear for a few more weeks, but I must be closed April 20 - May 20 to work on another project launching May 17. I will *try* to respond to email during this time, but I’m fairly sure I won’t be able to until at least May 18th. Sorry! <=-)
All that said, I’d like to share a friendly reminder that tomorrow, April 19, is the last day to place orders that will be mailed on or before April 21st. Any orders received April 20 - May 20 will be handmade and mailed as quickly as possible after May 20 =-).
As always, those who live in Winnipeg will be able to purchase items from Sew Dandee, Sacco + Vanzetti’s, Generation Green at The Forks, Neechi Commons and Nature Doctors =-) I’ve recently re-stocked Sew Dandee and Generation Green, and I’ll be dropping more off at Sacco + Vanzetti’s on the weekend =-).
Thank you once again for making Just the Goods as enjoyable and successful as it has been these past few years! I’ll miss you and will look forward to getting back into the lab on May 21!
With all my best,
In light of a popular video making the rounds these days, I wanted to take an opportunity to note that one of the many reasons I started Just the Goods was to serve as an alternative to the so-called “beauty industry”. I am frustrated when I see marketing that takes the form of self-esteem boosting while still reinforcing negative stereotypes, including a narrow definition of beauty, and the importance of other people validating that beauty. I’m also frustrated when the companies engaging in this type of marketing are, simultaneously, selling products rife with petrochemicals that cause harm to our bodies and the environment. And yes, I’m also frustrated when the companies engaging in this supposedly positive marketing profit from other brands that very explicitly advertise in negative and hurtful ways. It seems to me that one can’t cause harm with one hand and try to fix it with the other… it just doesn’t work that way.
I often worry that talking about other products will cause people to think I’m participating a form of negative campaigning, but I also want everyone to know that I think about these issues, and that I take them very seriously. Just the Goods is about self-care in all respects. It is about helping people find time to feel good from the inside out, while knowing that they don’t need to be sold anything… no lifestyle promises, no dreams in a bottle. I respect myself far too much to play those games, and I respect all of you.
With all my very best,
Great to see you again =-) I’ve just re-opened the lab after a two-week absence, and I look forward to handmaking all of the skin care items ordered while I was away — some orders will even be mailed tonight!
Please note that the lab will be closed again from April 21 – May 20, so I will work to have all orders placed before April 19 mailed before I leave. Any orders received between April 19 – May 20 wil be handmade May 21/22, and mailed by May 23.
Thanks so much for your interest in Just the Goods, and for your kind patience while I juggle various work schedules
With all bests!
Another big box full of parcels has made it into the mail, whoo hoo! =-) Thank you to everyone who got in touch before I closed up the lab — it’s always a pleasure!!
Over the next two weeks, I’ll be diving head first into piles of reading and writing, so I won’t be checking Just the Goods related email, but I do look forward to getting back into the lab on April 1. As such, freshly made skin care products ordered between March 16 - 31 will be handmade beginning April 1 and mailed on or before April 3 =-).
Thanks again for your ongoing interest in Just the Goods - it means so much!
All bests and Happy Spring!
— Milena / Just the Goods
